Norway has long been blazing a trail in the transition away from internal combustion engine cars. For some of the wealthy Nordic country's major cities, about 30% of all passenger cars are now fully electric, according to Norway's EV Association.

Norway, which boasts vast oil and gas reserves, has long been recognized as a global leader in sustainable transportation. The country's electric vehicle sales have increased from less than 1% of total auto sales in 2010 to a whopping 88.9% last year.
