Olympics-alpine skiing-Norway's McGrath leads crash-strewn men's slalom, Pinheiro Braathen exits
By Martyn Herman BORMIO, Italy, Feb 16 (Reuters) - Norway's Atle Lie McGrath led a crash-hit Olympic men's slalom with the fastest time of a first run that many favourites including Brazil's Lucas Pinheiro Braathen failed to complete on Monday.
Just like that, the most incredible streak in the history of the Winter Games was over. Not only is Pinheiro Braathen’s gold the first Winter Olympics medal of any sort that Brazil has ever won, it’s the first medal that any South American nation has brought home from the Winter Olympics.
