A raid by the Thane Forest Department, based on a tip-off from the Kalyan Forest Department, uncovered several reptile species and a critically endangered orangutan in a rented flat in Dombivli. Wildlife Crime Control Bureau volunteer Ankit Vyas highlighted the threat to orangutans from habitat loss and illegal trade. This operation is one of the largest in Maharashtra's history. A Successful Jackal Rescue! Recently, the Maharashtra Forest Department discovered two female jackal cubs, approximately 6 months old. Concerned about their safety, the two babies were brought to the Manikdoh Leopard Rescue Centre for careful assessment and treatment. After a through check-up, our veterinarians gave the cubs deworming medication and vitamin supplements to boost their chances of survival. Homecoming of a leopard cub to it’s mother! In a collaboration between Wildlife SOS and the Maharashtra Forest Department, a leopard cub discovered near an onion storage house in Chas village was successfully reunited with its mother. Despite being dehydrated due to the monsoon season, the 45-day-old cub remained vigilant. By strategically deploying camera traps, we managed to capture the heartening moment when the mother leopard and her cub were reunited. Watch this touching video to know more
