Citrobacter freundii is a Gram negative, motile, non spore forming bacillus. It is a facultative anaerobe with low nutritional requirements and grows on nutrient agar. On blood agar, it produces smooth, moist, gray colonies that are usually non hemolytic. It produces hydrogen sulfide, forming black centered colonies on SS agar. | Medical Laboratory Scientist - MLS
